Japanese Tansu and Antique Furniture
Tansu is the word for chest, chest of drawers, or cupboard in Japanese. Around Meiji era 1860-1910, tansu were made for different uses and purposes such as for storing kimono and futon, for kitchen cupboard, for keeping samurai sword, and they even made chest for traveling… All the tansu are portable, movable, and functional.
