What does KURAYA mean?
"KURA" is a storage house of an old-style
Japanese house, made of fireproof mud walls and covered with white plaster. The
structure is used to store generations of family treasures.
"YA" simply means "store.”
Hence, Kuraya means “kura store.”
Our showroom is a place for you to find many treasures.
What kind of Japanese antiques does Kuraya carry?
We specialize in authentic Japanese antiques from the
18th to 20th Century, including clothing chests, kitchen chests, merchant chests,
stair chests, folk crafts, porcelains, textiles and other exquisite accessories.
Each piece is hand picked from the farmlands of Japan and shipped directly to
us.

Yes, you are welcome to purchase on line. If you are
interested in purchasing an item you find on our on line catalogue, please contact
us by e-mail, phone, or fax. We are more than happy to send you more photos of
the item you are interested in if you need them.
Are the items showing on this website updated?
Yes, we update our website very often as we update our
inventory.
What is your store policy?
We will gladly exchange or issue store credit on any
items* returned to us in original condition within 10 days. Returned items must
be accompanied by original sales receipts.

Yes, we deliver in the San Francisco Bay Area and the
surrounding areas. Please ask for further information.

The shipping cost varies according to the size and weight of the item as well
